Backyard Shenanigans

The title says it all...

Memorial Day Cousin Fun

Yesterday was the only nice day of our holiday weekend, but at least it was hot and sunny and *sort of* made up for the crap weather we had been having.  My sister-in-law recently pimped out her backyard so she invited all the cousins to play.  I must say they were all so stinkin' cute in their swimsuits running around!  It is nice that they are all getting to an age where they can push each other down and steal toys from each other play!

Ben, Sydney, Leah & Mason

I ask Sara to smile... and this is what I got... (she was saying Cheese...just sunning at the same time)

Cooling Off

I'm looking at my photos and realize that I don't even showcase the main attraction which is the super nice swing set-go figure.  Both my sister-in-laws have fancy SLR cameras so I am sure they got some better pics!

Yum-O

Cookies n' Cream Cupcakes... dont really think I need to say more?

Mason & Juliet

We don't get to see Juliet very often since she lives all the way in New York (boo) but we love love love it when she comes in town to play with us! She just had a birthday (2) and seriously has the best hair on any girl I've ever  seen.  Getting her and Mason to take a photo though... well thats never been easy, maybe one day they will both look at the camera and smile... at the same time.  For now... this is what we get....

Like I said before, Juliet just turned 2!  Since I am on a crafty kick I made her a special shirt for her birthday...check it out!  Happy Birthday!

Whoa!

Sometimes at the end of a day Mason gets really silly, laughs at everything and is an all around goof.  The other night after a nightly walk with Hurley, Mason was so goofy... he almost tripped and I said "whoa!".  It was all downhill after that.  He couldn't stop laughing at the word "whoa".  By the time I stopped laughing and grabbed my phone to record it he started to die down but... you get the gist....  WHOA!!

Spoon Trials

We gave the ole spoon a try today... to my surprise.... he did it!  Not to sound like I didn't have faith in my child but... as most kids are... he is a goof and usually throws everything on the floor.  Not today...

Spring to Summer in a Week?

That's right, gotta love Chicago weather, about 5 days of 60 degrees and then its 80... fine by me, I like warm summer weather!  This morning was particularly sunny and warm so we busted out our new sand and water table (but this summer it will just be water.  I picture a mouth full of sand). It took forever to get set up, I even put Mason in bathing suit because I thought he would go splash crazy.  Well in true Mason fashion he just played in the water and made no mess.  He splashes like crazy in our bathroom, I'm guessing its because I constantly say things like no, oh no, all wet, too much. But when he can splash his heart out in the yard... he keeps it all under control. Kids, go figure.  We did have lots of fun though!

Moms

Yesterday was Mother's Day and my second as a mom.  It is still hard to get used to celebrating me-in addition to all the wonderful women in our life. Our day was busy but nice. The weather was great and we headed out to brunch in the late morning and then a bbq in the evening.  I only snapped a few pics during the day and completely forgot to take photos at the bbq!

My Mom, Mason and I at brunch

Mason and I

Ok, and now to the fun part... I made a DIY edible arrangement!  It was fun and easy to make... just a little timely.  No more paying $50+ for an arrangement!!

4 years later...

Happy Anniversary to us! It's been 4 years (hold your applause please) and really it feels like yesterday and forever ago all at the same time. Here is a photo from the big day. Gosh... don't we all wish we looked like we did on our wedding day?!

Buh-Bye

...to bottles!  Another bittersweet sign that my baby is growing up.  We have been giving Mason milk in a sippy with a straw and he has been just fine so I figure, its time to put the bottles away.  I sure won't miss cleaning the darn things though! Oh and the one caveat... Mason must drink his milk warm... kind of a pain but... hey, whatever works right?
