Lions and Tigers and Bears! (oh my)

Nope no Dorothy or Oz but we did go to the zoo and see all the animals!  We have been wanting to take Mason to the zoo for some time now and before summer completely slips away we decided to make a trip.  The day was perfect, not too crowded with gorgeous weather. We walked around to all the of the animals and took a look.  Some of Mason's favorites were the giraffes, monkeys and penguins.  Lots of pointing and calling "mama" and "dada" for us to see what he saw.

Something so awesome about Brookfield Zoo is the Children's Play Zoo.  It is similar to the childrens museum, with interactive exhibits.  You can be a vet in a veterinary hospital, a zookeeper, run your own zoo office, work in a children's greenhouse and more!

Zonked out!

Oh Boy!

Sigh, not sure how to categorize this video for you.  Its a mixture between... "that aught to teach you to not buy fancy toys" and "that's a boy for you".  I guess Mason broke into the hall closet where I had some wrapping paper and then began his rampage through the house beating on everything in sight.  A wrapping paper roll, really?  We have lots of appropriate toys in our house, I promise.

A funny story..

Sorry folks, I don't have pictures to accompany this post but I want to remember this story so I am documenting it here!

This morning Mason and I were upstairs getting dressed for the day.  We were in my room and I turned to Mason and I said "Let's go downstairs".  Well as a side note, we have been working with Mason to understand the concept that he has to go down the stairs backwards on his hands and knees (crawling in reverse).  Up until this moment he never actually does this unless we make him.  But today, he looked at me (still in our bedroom) got down on his belly/hands and knees and started scooting backwards towards the bedroom door, and down the hallway...all backwards!  When it occurred to me what he was doing I just laughed so hard!  And so he proceeded to go down the stairs after crawling backwards from the bedroom.  Maybe the next lesson is that we don't have to turn around until we get to the stairs... ha, but its nice to see he is taking the better safe then sorry approach!

Lovin the Slide!

We took Mason to the park this past weekend and he had the best time!  Seems he is finally getting in to the park scene and is actually able to do some things on his own.  This time he was loving the slide!  And by the word loving... I mean obsessing.  Up and down, up and down--finally we had to distract him!

Enjoying the beautiful scenery.  I think Mason looks like such a big boy here!  What happened to my baby?

Jason & Jill

This past weekend our cousin Jason tied the knot with Jill!  The whole weekend was gorgeous from start to finish and we had a great time.  Jill of course looked beautiful in her dress!

As weddings go in our family... well its a debauchery of sorts.  I mean this is the way of cocktails, shots and more cocktails!  We know how to have a good time that's for sure. Thanks to my parents for watching Mason for 2 long nights in a row, we appreciate it so much!

The happy couple :)

The Freed/Toll Table

I'd like to note that Bubbe thought it was a great idea for us to do tequila shots.  You read me right, tequila!! So let that explain the rest of the photos :)

Where are the men you may ask?  (crickets crickets)

Cell Phone Photo Dump

Always get some cute pics on the phone and they just sit there.  So here are a few!

Mooching for breakfast

Starbucks cake pop and water - a perfect snack after the pool!

The word you are looking for here is.... stuck!

Remembering it all

One of the reasons I like the idea of blogging is because it will help me remember what Mason was doing and when. I have seen a couple little babies lately and I already cannot remember Mason when he was that little.  Seems like a lifetime ago!  At any rate, Mason does some funny things now.  He is in this mode where he doesn't need us for anything.  According to him he is 16 months going on 12yrs old.  Sorry Mom, I can do this by myself!!  Always makes me laugh when he gets mad at one of us and stomps away to do it himself.

There are two things that happen frequently around here.
1) when we leave the house Mason has to walk out the door himself (no being carried) and he has to walk down the sidewalk to our neighbors house, survey the area and then walk himself back to the car before being put in his seat.  I tried to take some pics to capture this.

2) My wallet is not safe.  Someone can now unzip the area on my diaper bag and get it out.  If I even dare to take it away from him -- well forget it.  I can't quite figure out the allure on this one.  Apparently he enjoys plastic already, not good for us.
